Photographer Spotlight: Eryn N. Smith

Welcome to this month's installment of my Photographer Spotlight feature! Our featured photographer for November is Eryn N. Smith. A student at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Eryn is an up and coming photographer, who specializes in concert photography, but also shoots nature and urban landscapes, and recently has been shooting portraits locally in Greenville, IL, and the St. Louis Metro East region.

This year, Eryn has had the privilege of shooting many St, Louis area venues, featuring bands such as Cage The Elephant, A Will Away, Homesafe, Tidal Volume, You Blew It!, Freethrow, and Chase Huglin, to name just a few.

Eryn has an innate ability to capture a moment, an emotion, a story, in her images. Her ability to work with all kinds of lighting and scenarios, and even cramped venues, shows in her resulting photos. I would venture to say Eryn has a future in the genre of music photography.

As much as I really dig Eryn's concert photography ( and she has a ton of images!), and would love fill this post with a ton more, I will just have to let these be the appetizer. If you'd like to see more of Eryn's concert images, check 'em out on her online portfolio. She will be adding more soon to her portfolio, as well, since she has had a few more shoots in the last week!

So, let me share some of Eryn's other favorite subjects......

After the acquisition of some macro lenses, Eryn has done some studies in macro nature shots. Here are a couple from her earlier experiments.....

Some of her other nature favorites are sunsets and sunrises. Yes, I know, as photographers, we've all done sunsets/sunrises to death. But I think I can safely say, no two sunset or sunrise images ever seem to be the same. There is just something marvelous in capturing the color and drama the skies provide.

Eryn also does some urbex and hiking imagery, when she can carve out some time to get outdoors and away from the demands of work, school, and shooting bands. There is a sampling of those images on her portfolio as well.

In addition to concert and nature shoots, Eryn has also done well with portraiture. Her are just a few examples of recent shoots.

You can find more like these on her online gallery. If you are interested in booking a portrait shoot, whether couples, individual, family, or band, please do contact Eryn, she'd be glad to see what she can offer you.

Finally, my favorite portrait Eryn has done....me, doing my thing. :-)

So, there you have it. Eryn Smith, a name you might want to remember, because I think you'll be hearing more about her and seeing more of her work in the not too distanct future. In the meantime, you can check out much more of Eryn's work at her online gallery, Eryn Smith Photography, or follow her on Instagram, erynnsmith . Check it out!

And if you are interested in contacting Eryn for portrait sessions or collaborations, you can contact her vis her Instagram feed through DM.

Thanks for coming back to ImaginationRanch Photography to see what's new. Tell your friends, share it up. (Do the same for this month's featured photographer, too!)

I hope to be updating some of my own galleries soon, as I have some more images to upload and share. Time to do a little Fall cleaning in the galleries!

Leave a comment below, if you'd like to know more about this month's featured image maker, or if you'd like to be featured yourself sometime. Always glad to help a fellow shutterbug out!

Happy November!
